While shooting photos at Thousand Hills, I almost ran into a deer (literally) so I stopped and got some pretty good shots of it.

The deer turned to acknowledge the biker in the distance. What a cool moment.

A brown duck at the St. Louis Zoo

Yesterday midday, my first photo was accepted to istockphoto.com!

Check out my iStock portfolio. I’ve got four photos in there so far. 18 more photos are waiting for acceptance.

Photography, how I love thee.

So, when my office at A.T. Still University moved down to the basement with other creatives (I know that’s so stereotypical sounding… ‘a basement full of creatives’) , I’ve found myself being inspired more often than not. I’ve also starting learning a lot more about photography. With the advice of Jamie and Kelly, I purchased a new Canon Rebel XS and started asking them a million questions on how to use it.

I got the camera about a month ago and a week ago I was accepted into iStockPhoto.com as a photo contributor. I’m totally stoked to start selling on iStock.

Here are a few photos that are waiting for approval on iStock

To take this photo, I put the camera on a tripod, set it to F5.8 and ISO 100. I was also on Aperture Priority. The photo took about 20-30 seconds to expose, so I had plent of time to move into position and create my 'light show' with the flash light.

YouTube-copy

I’ve been crazy busy at ATSU designing new websites and doing daily web updates for everyone and their brother. I discovered that schools get special privileges as far as branding their channel. This got me excited to design this channel. It only took about three hours and it was so easy to implement.

There are a  few new websites that will be going live soon and I can’t wait to share them with you. One is for Still Magazine, ATSU’s Alumni Magazine produced by Marketing and also for the Student Government Association (SGA). I even got to design a logo for SGA. I gave you a sneak peak at the SGA logo a few months ago.

In other news, I’m currently applying to istockphoto.com in order to start selling photography and illustrations – wish me luck!

In Costa Rica, I took this photo of the sunset one evening.

I did the watercolor on cold press illustration board and then drew the pier separately with pen/ink. I then scanned both images in and composed them in Photoshop.

I kinda like the black and white version more than the color.

PHOTO RETOUCHING & COLORING
This photo is one that my aunt gave me about a year ago. It’s my dad and other aunt in the 60′s. The photo was almost beyond repair, with the graininess and lack of contrast. I made good use of the burn tool. First I made it black/white then began layering color in and then burned  more contrast in.
