I haven’t come up with more than one variation based on the critiques yet. This is one idea that is more balanced and uses some background texture. I still want to try more type variations and have the cat ripping through the billboard (the ripping idea is thanks to this cool dude.)

As always – give me your feedback and critique – Is the background too much? Any ideas for the type? Is it timeless? Will it look dated in a few years?

Looking good man. I like the idea of the cat ripping through, that could be cool. With this one, the curve seems a little too stagnant – that tear/ripping idea could be a cool divide. And what if you switched sides with the cat and type, so the cat’s right paw was doing the ripping and that line/tear was the divide? And then the cat’s motion was towards the inside of the billboard and the title. You got some good stuff cooking there, it’ll be cool to see where you go with it.

Great ideas, I’ve never looked at the blackcat and realized that it is kind moving to the left, therefore not to have it moving off the billboard – basic design/photography concept there – I got to remember the basics πŸ™‚

It’s hard to visualize the rip down the center, especially with the cat’s paw interacting. I can see the a rip from top to bottom but how does the paw interact? I was thinking the cat coming through a ripped hole.

Can you clarify on the cat paw ripping the line/tear? Maybe just some white peices in the cat’s claws?

Looks like I should rip some paper and photograph it, then trace in illustrator. hmmm πŸ™‚

What about paw prints for some background texture?
